| Tarping Systems |
Stricter cargo safety laws have increased the requirements for transporting any loose cargo. Whether it is gravel, debris, or small cargo pieces, operators can be ticketed for not tarping loads. Tarping systems come standard on most gravel, dump, and container bodies.
- Semi-automatic tarps are useful for smaller dump bodies, or bodies with fold down sides. The operator pulls the tarp out and attaches it to the rear, but the tarp will roll itself back in once it has been unattached.
- Flip tarps are used on larger dump bodies and container bodies. Tarp arms are attached to the sides and used to pull the tarp out and over the load. Tension springs keep the tarp arms tightly held against the end of the body, ensuring the tarp stays covering the cargo.
- Flip tarps can be installed with a crank, which the operator turns to extend and retract the tarp, or an electric-drive, which allows the operator to control the tarp from the cab of the vehicle.
- The tarp itself can come in different material types to best suit the cargo being transported.
